Have a green thumb and some time to spare?
We need some residents to be part of a Planting Committee to enhance the beauty of the park or the entrance to Lost Creek. These volunteers will spear-head landscaping at the park on Heatherglen and possibly underneath a new sign at the Top of Pinehurst Drive. If anyone has some carpentry skills, we’d also like to have some wooden planters as part of that sign. Committee members and volunteers would be responsible to source/obtain and plant the flowers or shrubs approved by the committee.
Please respond to the facebook group post or email email@example.com to get in on the action.
General meeting of the Association to take place November 26 – 7pm to 9pm at the new Community Center.
If you have anything you would like to see on the agenda, please send it to firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration.
Items that will be discussed so far include:
- Future park activity/budget.
- The recent and ongoing problem of prowlers and car break-ins in Lost Creek.
- Selection of a new executive including President, Vice-President(s), Secretary, Treasurer and a number of Directors.
If there is a vote to occur on any decision or the need to vote for any position, residents who currently contribute to the Area Rate will be eligible to cast one vote per household.
We haven’t had a permanent Secretary or Treasurer so if you would like to be involved and can spare just a few minutes every other month or so to fill these or any other roles it would be greatly appreciated by all.
If anyone could volunteer to take minutes as an interim Secretary on the 26th that would be great…please think about this. If we don’t have a functional executive for the association it makes operations and planning more difficult.
Check back here for changes or updates.
Our celebration and BBQ went off with out too many hitches. Everyone seemed to have a great time and enjoyed each others company. The kids made awesome use of the new playground equipment and the hotdogs and burgers were pretty tasty.

In the development of this site and the associated forum/market place, we had the foresight to secure Lost Creek Community Association on Facebook – back in 2010. The group has been in ‘reserve’ and is now ready to launch. Please join in and post up your ‘beefs’ or compliments.
As a result and in fact some degree of influence: You’ll notice that our forum/market place which was linked from the main site has been decommissioned.
The move to Facebook will allow for much more participation by people in Lost Creek Village and the surrounding communities. Please post anything you feel is legit: items for sale; golf dates; fire pit festivities, group walks; babysitting requests; back yard BBQ’s; street sales; your suggestions; items you want addressed formally by the association; or just local chit chat…its local no holds barred networking…..get going!
The Park Opening/Family BBQ Committee has chosen a date of Saturday, August 11, 2012 for the event. The time is set for 11AM to 2PM. Rain date is Saturday, August 18, same time. We hope to have some kind of ribbon cutting (nothing to elaborate), a BBQ, a few fun games for the kids and adults alike. Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket. For updates and announcements, check back here or sign up for our email news by sending a message to firstname.lastname@example.org
For those who didn’t respond thru email to the initial post this is an FYI if you can volunteer to help.
Family BBQ/Park Opening Volunteer Meeting
Lost Creek Golf Course – 6pm – Thursday May 24.
Above is our new logo, designed here in our community by Trina Roache. You’ll see this logo soon at the park site on the HRM sign. She did an excellent job. Many thanks to Trina for taking time out of her busy schedule to design and refine this for us.
We also have a new web address: www.lostcreekresidents.ca is working now and will replace www.lostcreekpark.ca as our main address online. www.lostcreekpark.ca will continue to direct people to our site for the time being as well.
Questions or comments can be directed to email@example.com
This community would do well to have a Park Opening / Family BBQ Celebration.
The swings are up at the site. And there are indications of some more landscaping taking place around the primary playground structure…….indications for us to move forward as well.
So, this is a call for committee members/volunteers to help organize a Park Opening BBQ / Family Party.
If there is enough interest and we get some committed volunteers we will hold a committee meeting in the next week or two. Even if you don’t want to be heavily involved in the planning or organizing, you could just help out the day of the event. We’ve done an incredible job the last few years and look at what we’ve accomplished. So please, if you can, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
As many of you are aware, the playground part of the park is built on Heatherglen Drive. It looks great so far and it’s being used quite a bit already by lots of kids and families.
The park was designed primarily for the 5 to 12 year age group but we also have a few things for toddlers to use there as well, such as the ‘Lady Bug’ ride.
There is quite a bit of landscaping left to do and also the trail system construction which will likely start as the ground dries out a bit in the coming month or two. There is going to be a picnic shelter with a couple of tables under it. We’re getting a few more benches and some picnic tables which will be strategically placed around the site. Garbage cans should be there soon as well.
Although the site is owned and operated by HRM, we as a community need to take ‘ownership’ of it; in a manner of speaking. We need to guard it and foster it. Its there for everyone to enjoy and use. So treat it like its ‘your park’. Tell your kids. Take pride in it and what we’ve accomplished in a few short years.
Our message is this: there may be some who may not respect and value it as much as we do. Keep an eye on it when you can. Its closed thru the night, so if you see people there who shouldn’t be, be it teens at night or adults up to no good; call the police (244-7208). Report it to HRM (490-4000).
This was a significant investment in our community by three main groups: each family in Lost Creek (your yearly area rate charge + our community fundraising), the province ($50,000) and HRM ($50,000+ the councillor’s contributions).
